The real essence of Christmas

Christmas, a Holiday almost everyone is celebrating, where everyone gets to spend their time with their loved ones. Christmas carols, gift giving, foods, games, family reunion; these are the things that excite us when we hear the word “Christmas”. However, Christmas is not just about those things, it is made as a celebration for the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Celebrating Christmas for the past 2 years was hard for most of the people due to the pandemic and other personal reasons. It was boring for me as well because we weren’t allowed to do carolling to avoid physical interaction with other people. Also, most of our relatives from other province or country could not join us in celebrating the Christmas since they are not allowed to travel.

Despite of the situations during Christmas for the past years, this year was different. Usually, we always receive gifts from our families, friends and especially from our godparents but my family decided to doa different thing. We did Christmas carols but we were the ones who gave gifts to the needy people. We didn’t have much but I think we made those people happy. We had a wonderful time together since it became our bonding, we were happy and at the same time, we were helping other people.

Christmas is not just about materials that we give and receive but the joy we share with each other. I encourage everyone to enjoy and be excited for Christmas not just because of the money and gifts but because of the happiness it will bring to us. As I mentioned in the first paragraph, Christmas is not about gifts and money; it is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and doing what He loves which is giving and sharing. I hope everyone had a great Christmas this year and will be having a greater Christmas for the next years. Merry Christmas!
