Simple happiness for moms!
Mother figures come in all shapes,
sizes, and relationships. They don't have to have given birth to you to
gain recognition on this special day. Mother figures could be foster
moms, aunties, mom's friends, or sisters; any woman who raised you as a
kid, stuck by you as a moody teenager, and are your occasional shoulder
to cry on - they've always had your back. And these are but a few
reasons that we celebrate these amazing women with Mother's Day - a
tradition that's held across the world.
Though
the day started several centuries ago, it has remained an important
date in the calendar and has today evolved to include shopping for the
best Mother's Day gifts, creating thoughtful homemade Mother's Day
cards, and other Mother's Day activities. However, my mother and i
celebrated it differently, we celebrated the day with the other mothers
that are member of the church!
To
give further details to our celebration, allow me to narrate it. As the
pastora of our church, my mother informed the other mothers to bring
their husbands but unfortunately, only 4 of them were able to do so.
Moreover, after our service, my mother called all the mothers and they
took photos and videos. I also prepared some flowers for them and gave
it to the children so that they can give it to their mother. I also gave
the 4 husbands flowers to give to their wives and my mother asked them
to dance with their wife in front. While they were dancing, my mother
did the "bitor" tradition wherein when the newlyweds dance after their
wedding ceremony, their ninangs or ninongs wouldnput money on their
clothes. We were so happy that we laughed tovether and smiled widely!
In
addition, my mother also gave 1 whole uncooked chicken to all of the
mothers that attended. She decided to give them as a gift to them so
that they will have something to cook for their families to celebrate
mother's day together.
Mothers
are not just someone who do things for us but someone who loves and
supports us silently. Yesterday's celebration is a great day to
celebrate our mom's sacrifices and strength but I hope that we dont
appreciate our mothers only on mother's day but everyday. We must learn
to recognize and honor them for the sacrifices they made for us, from
giving birth to us to every little and big things they did for us
