            So, today's blog will be all about what I've learned this quarter, and to put it bluntly, I'm not sure where to begin. But first, let's take a look at how this quarter went.      Lent or kwaresma in Filipino is the season wherein Filipino people recall Christ’s passion, His suffering, death and resurrection. Philippines is known to be the only primarily Christian country in the whole of Asia and its population is made up of a big number of devout Christians, which is the reason why Lent Season or Holy Week traditions are commonly practiced in a very unique way. It is referred as Mahal na Araw or Semana Santa in the Philippines, it starts from Palm Sunday, followed by Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and concludes on Black Saturday and the Easter Sunday.      There are a lot of religions here in the Philippines but most of the Filipinos are Catholics.        With the intention of celebrating the 121st year since the ISNHS was built, the school have been busy preparing for the celebration that will be held this upcoming Saturday, March 25, 2023. The celebration has the theme of “Renewed Commitment in Defying Odds to Transcend Heights of Excellence and Solidarity” and will be executed by having a program in the school’s gymnasium.          The celebration will begin with a thanksgiving mass and will be followed by a program that contains doxology that will be performed by the teachers’ choir and will be followed be flag ceremony.              People celebrate Valentine’s day every 14 th of the second month of the year. It is the day people celebrate love where they give their partners some chocolates, flowers, stuff toys and gifts. A lot of people enjoyed the day and I am happy seeing my facebook friends receive flowers and chocolates. But if you’re gonna ask me how my Valentine’s day went? Here it is…       I am in a long-distance relationship so obviously, we did not celebrate it like most of the couples I see. However, I still received tulips flowers in the color of orange, red and a little bit of yellow.      Kannawidan is one of the most awaited event in Ilocos Sur. It is celebrated every January to February every year and everyone is excited for this celebration. But why do we celebrate Kannawidan? And what is its purpose?       The real reason behind this festival is to promote the culture, traditions and products of the Ilocanos. We are also aware that the generations nowadays do not pay attention on our cultures and traditions any more, and that is also one of the reasons why we have this kind of festival, for young people to at least recognize our own traditions.       Allow me tell you more about this festival.        Every first month of the year, Vigan, Ilocos Sur is always busy preparing for the Vigan Festival. There are lots of activities that are being held during the festival week such as parades, carnavals, food fairs, and arts and crafts exhibits. Every year, there are thousands of tourists visiting in Vigan just to witness the festival celebration. It is worth it to visit because you will learn a lot about Vigan's culture, products and traditions.  This is an image of the parade celebration of  conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, Vigan City’s patron saint . Vigan City also held a street dancing showdown on January 22, 2023. The dancers did great and it actually gave a great entertainment to the audience.
