          Changing the world might seem like an insurmountable task, but I believe that’s because many people approach changing the world in the wrong way. They focus on trying to create wide-sweeping changes in the political and social structures around them. The problem is, these structures have been sturdy for so long that they are almost impossible to change.           Once people realize that changing the world is difficult, they begin to give up on those dreams they had. They let those dreams wash away and replace them with “realistic” goals that other people give them. Maybe you’ve even experienced this yourself.        Mother figures come in all shapes, sizes, and relationships. They don't have to have given birth to you to gain recognition on this special day. Mother figures could be foster moms, aunties, mom's friends, or sisters; any woman who raised you as a kid, stuck by you as a moody teenager, and are your occasional shoulder to cry on - they've always had your back. And these are but a few reasons that we celebrate these amazing women with Mother's Day - a tradition that's held across the world.      Though the day started several centuries ago, it has remained an important date in the calendar and has today evolved to include shopping for the best Mother's Day gifts, creating thoughtful homemade Mother's Day cards, and other Mother's Day activities.      Labor Day is a day to celebrate the accomplishments of workers and to honor their contributions. It's also a time to recognize the sacrifices they make on behalf of our country. In the Philippines, Labor Day falls on May 1 every year. The holiday has been observed since May 1, 1903 under the Union Obrero Democratica de Filipinas (UODF) , when Philippine Assembly passed a bill for its recognition year 1908. On May 1, 1974, former president Ferdinand E. Marcos, signed Presidential Decree No. 442 known as the Labor Code of the Philippines. From then on, it has been observed annually—a legacy that continues today under President Bongbong Marcos’ administration.        The first mass celebration of Labor Day in Manila took place in 1903, with more than 100,000 employees joining other government officials in a parade through Tondo's Plaza Moriones to Malacanang . In order to commemorate this event, several branches of government were encouraged to hold events throughou
